There has been a increase in White sea bass catch. This has mainly been due to planting of white sea bass along with size/catch limits. This was done based on a severe decline ins WSB stocks in the 70's and 80's. Nobody plants fish because a fishery is too healthy and nobody calls stocks rebuilding if there wasn't something that needed rebuilding.
As for your ab study, No one anywhere says poaching exceeds 2 million pounds annually, which would be 40 percent of the maximum commercial yield in California in the late 1960's. As for some current facts, the measured population per hectare at San Miguel island 10 years after the closure of the fishery is roughly 1400 per hectare, well below the minimum recovery standard of 2000 per hectare as prescribed by the California abalone recovery act. just for perspective, 10,000 abs per hectare is what biologist use as measure for a healthy habitat.
Finally salmon. You listed a a case where a federal appeals court denied salmon an endangered species listing in "Washington and Oregon," because they didn't count planted fish, which really has nothing to do with California. The facts in California are clear. There has been no salmon fishing season in California for 2 years because what was once a run of 2 million salmon annually into the delta is a mere fraction of what it once was.
This is exactly my problem with the release. Spinning facts to suit your purpose to deny things that are true. You should try up making up stuff instead. You'll do better. Oh wait, you did make up stuff.
