This is a pretty cool video of a 55 foot pilot boat out for sea trials
in 20 foot waves and 85 knot winds. They get it surfing pretty good and
it handles the rough stuff pretty good, rising over it all, but it
reminded me of another craft I saw once before. Yah, that's a storm and
pretty rough, but I remember late one evening looking out from Bodega
Bay and amazingly there was about a 50 foot Coast Guard Boat working
it's way into the weather. Waves and wind were coming from the north
and I figured that somebody really wanted to get somewhere. The CG boat
didn't rise up over the swell though. It looked to be very skinny and
cut through each wave without rising much as it muscled its way north. I've
been out on a lot of boats in rough water, but that CG one was made to cut
through a storm like no others I have ever seen.
Enjoy the diving, seahunt
