Eleven defendants, average fine $1,207.00 plus gear (lets add $500.00) cost to all defendant $1,707.00 X 11 equals $18,777.00 The eleven defendants lost $18K on this transaction, but if they had eluded the fish cops on just one prior occasion their profit would have been $16,083. The fines handed out by the court are just the cost of doing business for the poachers. Anyone willing to bet these individuals will not be back in court within the year? |
