An autopsy of Tkachev will be performed today, with a cause of death likely in the next few days, officials said. Police launched a massive search for the diver Saturday night after a friend reported that Tkachev did not show up to meet him later in the day. He was found by the Baywatch patrol out of Redondo Beach about 10 a.m. in shallow waters near Malaga Cove in Palos Verdes Estates. Tkachev was a skin, or free, diver, meaning he did not use an oxygen tank. Friends said Tkachev worked at Glidewell Laboratories in Newport Beach.
