OML is by far the best dive in SoCal. It is not suitable for beginners or experienced divers that are not in good physical condition due to the following reasons:
1. long walk to the dive site
2. rocky entry (cantaloupe to beach ball or car sized boulders depending on the site).
3. steep coble stone beach on the exit,
4. currents - I had to assist a new diver who was taken there by his buddy, current came up and they could not make the cobblestone beach, kayak tried to assist but ended up putting them ashore between the two entry/exits too exhausted to even crawl out of the surf zone.

Given the current swell, Malaga cove on the other side of the peninsula should be a good dive and is suitable for a beginner.
