"You should be aware that while we do listen to the comments and enjoy some of them greatly, at this late stage negotiations are going to come down to about six very difficult geographies including Catalina Island, La Jolla/point Loma, Laguna Beach, Palos Verdes, and Dana point. There is probably very little that can be done at this point to change the direction of the process, kind of like the rudder on the Titanic."

This is a particularly disturbing excerpt to me. It sounds like you're saying that all the hard work that many people have been putting in to this process to try to defend their positions is all fine and good, but it was never going to amount to much. The path forward had already been decided and all the comments were nothing more than a dog and pony show.

...or am I misinterpreting?
