We were there 2 weeks around the 4th of July (a tradition for us at Point Arena) which took care of the summer vacation. Plan to return for a week this October, but it'll be a bit of a working vacation.

Eric's right - you won't find clearer or cleaner water, uncrowded beaches or nicer folks than in Mendocino County. Its a 10 hour (or 12 hour with trailer) drive from LA that seems to pass quickly, so stay a week (or two) and see the North Coast - great hiking and nice local museums. Take the kids (even us big ones!) and ride the Skunk Train from Fort Bragg to Willets and see the Mendo County Museum there.

Its very generous of Eric and his friends to host this and we hope to dovetail it with our annual summer visit next year.
