While having tanks filled at the LDS Sunday, I was told that some kind of spearfishing tournament was held at Leo last Thursday, and that there were a lot of dead fish littering the bottom. After a quick search online I turned up this: http://spearboard.com/showthread.php?t=89644 and this: http://spearboard.com/showthread.php?p=1018449

Apparently, the competitors didn't even eat any of the fish they killed, which if you add up the scores comes to 375 fish, or 981.84 lbs. While I'm sure the soup kitchens they gave the fish to were glad to have the donation, can anyone explain to me how this is any different from commercial fishing, if the fishermen themselves don't even eat their catch?
