I just got off the phone with Capt. Tim. of the Great Escape, and we both looked at the tracks and forecasts. He's not concerned. Jimez will cross the tip of Baja, and then into Mexico and will die. Thats a long way from So. Cal.

I have more concern about your drive....from NM to california. You might see some rain during your drive.

Were not concerned about the sea state this weekend.

The current marine forcast for the Catalina to San Clemente Is area is :
FRI THROUGH SAT
W WIND 10 TO 15 KT IN THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING
HOURS...OTHERWISE WIND LIGHT. WIND WAVES 2 FT OR LESS. W SWELL 2 TO 4 FT... SUBSIDING TO 2 TO 4 FT.

Thats a decent forcast. Nothing unusual there.

You should have a great weekend! Remember, San Clemente and Catalina islands are large islands, each something like 20+ miles long. Even during those times of bad weather, theres often places to find a lee and still do some great diving. But.. I wouldnt worry, you should have a great trip.
