At Bird Rock, the temp was 70+ down to 60 feet. At 61 feet, it dropped precipitously to about 56.
At Eagle Reef, the temp was 70+ to about 40 feet, depending on where on the reef I was, then it dropped to about 60 or so.
Once I'm in the water, the temp doesn't bother me at all until it drops into the 50s. It also helped, that the weather on deck was warm and sunny, and the breeze was also warm.
