|Vets 10/9/09 Night Dive|

We decided to do a Friday night dive because the conditions were looking great and it was time to test out my new wetsuit. The water looked a little choppy from the parking lot but nothing serious. The waves were pretty small too. The plan was to kick out from the middle stairs to the end of the pier, work our way down to 70-80 head south a bit and then take our time shooting in the salad bowl on the back up.
As soon as we hit the water we noticed that the bio-luminescence had gone away. The tide was pretty low so it was a quick trip out to the end of the pier. As soon as we were at the bottom we noticed that the visibility was looking great and as we moved deeper into the canyon, it opened up a little more. Over all it was at least 20+. Get out there now to enjoy the mild temperatures and great vis, who knows how long it will last for.
As far as critters go, we ran into a good amount of Octoís, 4 species of Nudiís, lots of Kelletts Welks, Thorn Back Rays, small and large Scorpionfish and one very curious Intermediate Age Giant Kelpfish.
Below are some highlights from the dive:
