You're certainly not refering to 'halibug' who hasn't gotten sick 'yet'. Hey, look at the bright side - it keeps a steady stream of customers at the doctor's office!

Actually, I wait a week and completely avoid any place with continued runoff. The stuff that comes down streets, drainage systems, rivers, creeks, etc. is just pain nasty. A toilet bowl is more sanitary.
