We work closely with Cal Lu Universities marine biology program and we placed the pots so that the difference of what grows on them compared to harbor water, the front side of the island and the backside. Water samples were taken at all three locations and over the next year the marine biologist will compare what grows and then the researchers will try to see if and what differences the water has to do with it. Flower pots are used due to the porous surface small larvae can attach to them. I'm sure my "technical" description isn't properly stated as, I am the vessel captain and not a marine biologist. But you get the idea.
