I thought about the USS Squalus last week when Seahunt mentioned Fireside Diver by Bonnie Cardone. One of the short stories in the book is about the sinking(s) and rescue attempts. When I first read about the USS Squalus I was startled at the descriptions of nitrogen narcosis. It made me think long and hard about attempting some of the dives my buddy was making at the time.
