I just got back from presenting a paper at a NOAA /MAHHI conference in Honolulu, and took the opportunity to do a couple of trips out to the local sites. As much as I love California diving, I have to admit there is something very appealing about diving with a 3 mm suit and 10-pounds of weight. Being able to see the bottom from the surface on those 100+ foot dives (though I certainly have done that in Channel Islands…) and the 78-80 degrees temps aren’t too bad either. Congrats on the new location, but when you start getting bored with the Spotted Eagle rays, turtles (honu) and white-tip reef sharks, just remember, California diving is just a 5-hour flight away. Aloha, |
