I think your issue is more with the focus of the press than anything. Counsel from both sides have made statements, though as you point out Carlock is quoted directly. Can you say definitively that none of the defendants has said anything on their own behalf? I strongly doubt it-- what about trial testimony? What's really going on here is that the press perceives Carlock's point of view as more interesting, which really shouldn't be too surprising.
