I agree that it is important to be evaluated by a DAN doctor, and to also work quite closely with your pulmonologist, and to know your own body. As the DAN article points out, one's lung capacity is reduced under pressure, so being in good cardio shape is important. Being honest with yourself and your dive buddy is also important. One can dive with asthma, but understanding the risks and knowing when you're up to it is also important.
