Appears to be a reel with a built in ratcheting mechanism -- Nothing new or revolutionary.

Recall the original "Riffe's Reel" produced and marketed by "Aqua Craft" of San Diego some years ago? It also worked on a "ratchet."

It was initially welcomed by local spear fishermen but later dismissed as being more of a gadget than a effective spear fishing tool.

This unit follows suit, however the modern push button diver just might embrace it as is advertised as the latest and greatest since sliced bread-- only usage and the passage of time will verify it's value to the diving world.
