we first tried to hit Malaga cove, 4' chocolate brown surf was crashing up on the rocks, so we headed for vets. The surf was lower there, but the water was the same chocolate brown, looks like a red tide has hit the area. So instead of hunting the shallows for flatties, we dropped to 108' in the canyon. there is still some squid egg cases and a few stragglers guarding them, plus all the usual canyon life. the vis opened up to 15' at 100' with 53 degree water temp.
