You mean to tell me that after 10 years of shutting down areas and limiting fishing of most rockfish species that populations that were in serious decline in the early 90's are showing signs of slight recovery? Imagine if we did this in a deliberate, scientifically sound way through our representative government. We could set up some sort of act to protect our marine life with some sort of designated areas that offer protection. How great would that be? We could actually increase population levels and biomass, which are still down according to the reports. As for the salmon, now that we know that it wasn't fishing that caused the 95% drop in historic population numbers, we can justify fishing the last ones out and avoid managing the fishery. Thank you Slim!
