Does anyone have experience in using split-fins in strong currents?

I'm not interested in restarting the whole split-fin vs Jet fins debate. I'm planning a trip to Florida and just need to know if I should pack my Apollos, or buy something new. I'm hoping to read responses from people who have actually used split-fins in strong currents.
