Thank you everyone for your helpful responses.

Most of the dives we are planning will be within recreational depths. Some dives may include added decompression time.

I've dived the Keys several times in the past, and have experienced some strong currents. My definition of a "strong current" is when divers hang onto the anchor line horizontally.

I like to travel ultra-light, and use minimalist gear whenever possible in the tropics (because it's so different from how we dive here in Cali). Up until now, I've always used a pair of second-hand Beauchet full-foot snorkeling fins, which worked surprisingly well for me, so I must be a strong kicker when I need to be.

So I'll take the split-fins to Florida. If they don't work, I'll just buy some new ones at one of the Scuba Mega-Stores they have down there.
