I think possibly my best bet might be, as someone suggested, going to Avalon for a few days. My girlfriend is coming with me and she's not a diver, so she can snorkel, rent a kayak, do a bit of walking or whatever while I dive.

I will contact the smaller boats mentioned about the possibility of a trip to the oil rigs too, and we'll see what they come up with.
