Our group made a dive to the canyon tonight. Before the dive, we were watching the many spouts of the pods of Blue whales that have been in the area. I would estimate they were between one half to one mile off the redondo wall. Definately within range of the kayaks. There was a lot of boat traffic, so there must be something good to eat in the canyon for these shy whales to be hanging around for so long. Who will be the first to get some underwater shots of the whales. Conditions were good in the canyon, clear cold water, 15-20' vis, 51-55 degree water deep, 62 shallow.
