Blue Whales like oil?

Has anybody noticed that the blue whales in the bay seem to be hanging out right in the middle of the oil seepage area? We were out there Sunday - along with about 30 other boats including some douchebag in a 60-footer who tried to park on top one of the whales -- and came back with the boat covered in oil. You can sit there and watch the oil bubbles come to the surface. I can't imagine that swimming in oil is good for the whales?
