We

were yacking about compasses a while back,

so I thought that I would show
Max Bottomtime's patented compass bungee mount.

In case you didn't know, Max Bottomtime is a bungee expert.

If you have a bungee question, throw it at Max. He knows more about bungees than
most people have forgotten.

DISCLAIMER:
This
only works on those standard flat compasses that have four little holes
in
the
bottom.

First get a couple of feet of 1/8" bungee.

Next
pry the compass shell open. A flathead wedged in a couple of locations works
well.

The
Rose ring on top should pop off.

Photobucket

Now
you have 4 pieces. The Rose ring, case, fluid filled guts, and a tension
spring.

Photobucket

Take
out the tension spring and save it.

Photobucket

Now
poke the bungee thru the holes.

Photobucket

I
use a modified square knot.

Photobucket

If
you make two rings, it adds redundancy.

Photobucket

Hey,
how about that, no boot!

Next
time you see Max, give him the ring, maybe he knows a recycler...
