The handle you saw is a piece of rope with two brass or stainless clips attached to either end that is used to clip onto the ULCS arms. About three feet of line when tied to the clips seems to be about the right length. You can try it different lengths to see what works best for you. Too long isn't good because it will seem to be in your way, too short isn't good because it will keep you from spreading your strobe arms. It makes a great handle to use with the boat crews, keeps them from grabbing your synch cords!! In a pinch you can clip the housing off to your BCD, too! HTH! Margaret
