Dive Report: San Miguel Island with the Sea Divers |
Posted by Chris on December 20, 2010 at 00:32:40: On Friday evening, December 3 2010 the Sea Divers boarded the Peace for a midnight departure for San Miguel Island. When the boat left at midnight the sea was so calm you could not tell when we left the harbor. That evening it drizzled a bit, but the sea remained calm. It drizzled a bit in the evening but was beautiful on Saturday morning. Our first two dives were at Boomerang Bank and Skyscraper pinnacles. The visibility was about 30 to 90 feet depending on depth, opening up deeper, but nice all the way to the surface. As usual the invertebrate life on the pinnacles was stunning. There were also many large rock crabs out, and quite a few fish as well.
After that we made two dives in the south side of Simonton Cove were severl Sea Divers did well finding lobster. We then moved to The Canyons for a great twilight dive. After dinner in Simonton Cove one diver went out to look for bugs. He did not find any but spent most of his dive being shadowed by a large six gill shark.
It was another great trip with Sea Divers boarded the Peace. If you would like to go on a Sea Diver trip the The Sea Divers 2011 Schedule of Dives is online now for reservations. You can see all of the pictures from the trip here.
