Are you visiting Catalina and looking to dive from the island or are you visiting SoCal and looking for a dive charter to take you to Catalina to dive then back to the mainland?
If you are looking for a boat from the mainland you will find great deals from some really good operators that post on this board (like Captain Kyaa). If you are going to the island there are only (3) dive shops and (2) dive boats that are available (in Avalon to my knowledge). All of the dive shops should be able to set you up with rentals. Of the two boats (King Neptune and Scuba Cat) only the King Neptune has a fully heated enclosed salon for between dives - the Scuba Cat is an open air Newton.
