CHAMBER DAY/EVE 2011 - EVENT UPDATE "B" (posted 4/4 -last updated 3/18)

We lead off with the big reminder: Chamber Day 2011 is Wednesday, May 4.

These event updates are designed to give you a view of all the various aspects of Chamber Day. It's the largest single-day scuba charity event in the United States and we certainly can't do it without everyone pitching in to help.

In a perfect world, it would be great is EVERY diver in the Southern California area gave $100. If that happened (depending on what your estimate is of the active diver pool), we could raise anywhere from $250,000 to $10,000,000 each year. Sadly, the fact of the matter is that while many divers do participate, far more do not.

So if you've already signed up for a boat, or Chamber Eve, or maybe donated to the Challenge, perhaps something you can do is help us get the word out about how valuable and important our Chamber is to the local diving community. We'd hate to think how many more divers might die or be severely and permanently injured if we didn't have our Chamber to rely on 24/7/365.

But safety nets like this come at a price. And is $100 a year too much to ask? We hope not. Do whatever YOU can and then try to prod those within your social circle (and feel free to use Facebook, Twitter, etc.) to action as well.

Here's where we are as of 4PM on Monday, April 4:
