That's not necessarily contradictory. The recovery team could have
done a quick check on the SPGs before removing the gear to do the
recovery.

I've heard from reliable sources up here that one tank was empty
and the other very nearly so. There has been much discussion of
this sad accident on ba_diving and scubaboard.com
