If you are going to come here to dive, Monterey is the place.
There's next to nothing right around SF. There's some diving
further north, but it can get pretty gnarly. Monterey has lots
for the nondiving half: Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cannery Room (kinda
touristy but can be fun), 17 mile drive, Pt. Lobos, Big Sur, lots
of good restaurants.
