Ocean Art Underwater Photo Competition announced, $80,000 in prizes

The Ocean Art Underwater Photo Competition for 2011 has just been announced.

As of now, there is over $80,000 worth of incredible prizes, including stays at top resorts in Lembeh, Ambon, Fiji & Papua New Guinea, and trips on some of the world’s best liveaboards.

There is a new category called “Cold / Temperate waters”, I think all of you have a great chance of doing well in that category and I hope you enter.

There are also 4 categories for compact shooters and novices, an excellent opportunity for newer photographers.

Last year Southern California did really well. Local photographers Kevin Lee, James Lyle, David Guth, Phil Sokol and Steve Murvine all placed in the competition, with Phil winning one of the grand prizes – 18 nights in Papua New Guinea at Walindi, on the Febrina and at Loloata.

Two of the judges are well known so-cal professional photographers Marty Snyderman and Bonnie Pelnar.
