The ocean was pretty busy today. In addition to what Phil reported, we met two other boats we know. Keith Dager was fishing at Flat Rock from his 16' C-Dory, Sea Pup. Later Ian and Scott S. ran up to say hi. Coral Sea, the magnificent research vessel from Humboldt State University, was off Point Vicente.

The landing craft also had plenty to keep us busy today.

This is the closest I've ever been to an electric ray.

Snails were plentiful, especially the cones. There wasn't enough time to shoot a couple of the other, much smaller species I saw.

Phil found this mass of fish eggs. You can make out some of the vertebrae in the second, highly cropped image.

It would take another dive to do justice to the plentiful hermit crabs.

Phil thinks this tiny guy might be a young sheep crab. There were quite a few in one spot, and they shared the space with other small, spider-type crabs. We'll work on them next time.
