I put myself on a parallel course at an idle. Next thing I knew they were all around me with one passing under me with less than 3' between his back and my ski. My engine was on, they knew I was there, and the pod chose to come up where I was. I did not charge up to the pod or harass them (unlike the stereotypical PWC rider), but if I had a camera I'll bet folks would have thought otherwise. As I see these videos it reminds me of my experience. The whales are not harassed, or else they would swim away. Just my 2cents
