Decent conditions on the west side |
Posted by Max Bottomtime on October 15, 2011 at 21:02:49: Red tide has been showing up all over SoCal for the past few weeks. We've gone through patches of chocolate milk, only to find nice water on the other side. Today was no exception. We made a couple of shallow dives off Palos Verdes to practice shooting wide angle. At Margate Road we had nine feet vis and some surge. Fortunately there was not much to see there anyway. We moved to nearby Flat Rock and had a nice dive. At least twenty-five feet vis and lots to see. Merry immediately found four Tylodina fungina on a yellow sulphur sponge. Throughout the dive we had sheephead coming right up to our cameras. One very large male stayed just out of range, but it was good to see them coming back to this site.
