Shakira Vs. Sea Lion of the Day: Over the weekend, Colombian singer Shakira had a close call with a sea lion in Cape Town, South Africa.

“Omg what just happened to me!” she tweeted. “I was attacked by a sea lion!”

The singer continued to explain on her Facebook page that she was taking a picture of the seal in the water when it surfaced and tried to bite her. Shakira thought the animal must have mistaken her shiny Blackberry for some sort of fish.

She added that she was frozen with fear, and her brother had to rescue her. They both managed to get out of harm’s way with only a few scratches.

Fortunately, the sea lion attack didn’t sour her trip completely. She later tweeted the above picture of herself with penguins and wrote: “Today with the penguins! Definitely friendlier!”
