Clinton is correct.
We've dived on days that forecast Small Craft or even Gale warnings and found perfectly wonderful dives - the trick is not to get TOO far from home and shelter.

IF YOU DON'T GO, YOU DON'T KNOW

This absolutely does not mean taking foolish chances in obviously poor or dangerous conditions, but more times than not you'll find some good (or at least reasonable)diving if you take the time to go look.
