Actually, the number of sharks that have been tagged is exceptionally small.
Mauricio (Mexico's foremost Great White expert) made some presentations for us and taught us a lot about shark tagging during our long ocean crossings on the Clipperton Trip. I think he is pretty up to date with the status of shark tagging worldwide - he had some very impressive data. But one of the issues that he stressed as a problem is the limited number of sharks that have been successfully tagged.
The data obtained from satellite tags is basically location data.
It would be fascinating to know where a great white known to frequent Catalina Island goes.
