For your gloves, have you tried wearing surgical (or food handler) gloves under your normal ones? They keep the fingers a few degrees warmer, as they stop water circulation against bare skin. I've also coated the fingers of some old gloves with aquaseal to the same effect, but a bit stiff for a photographer.
