The next Seadiver General Meeting will be on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 7 p.m. at Round Table Pizza, 4330 Redondo Beach Blvd. (just east of Hawthorne Blvd. in the Northpoint/CVS Shopping Center) in Torrance. Click on http://seadivers.org.meetings.htm for a map.

October 2. Ron Wike will present a program about diving in the area of Puerto Galera http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puerto_Galera (port of the galleons) in the Philippines.

November 6. Don Mueller will present a program about diving in New Zealand and Hawaii. Don is an icon of South Bay diving, going out regularly on his custom made boat designed for comfortable diving. Don and Cathy also have been leading The Sea Diver reunions http://www.seadiversparty.org/.

December 4. Phil Garner will present a program about Diving the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Phil recently published a book with this title, and more information about it is available at https://www.createspace.com/3782647. Phil will emphasize the invertebrate life around the peninsula compared to other dive areas in SoCal, and also mention the many wrecks we have available. Phil began free diving here in 1987. He enjoyed the freedom of climbing the goat trails without the added weight of scuba gear, but after seeing so many marine creatures, he knew that he would need scuba to stay down long enough to see more. As a newly certified diver he sought information about local marine life and dive sites. It wasn't until a few years ago that he began to write his own book.

January 1. There will not be a General Meeting. Have a happy New Year's Day holiday.

February 5. Bob Meistrell will present a program about the history of Dive 'N Surf http://divensurf.com/, Body Glove http://www.bodyglove.com/heritage/ and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Body_Glove and diving in the South Bay area. Bob is the co-founder of Dive 'N Surf and Body Glove, so he is in a unique position to tell us the inside stories about his life adventures. This will be a fantastic presentation by a diving pioneer, starting TSD program year.
