Yesterday, Walter, Margaret and I were doing a surface interval after our first dive (on a dive site that shall remain nameless) offshore King Harbor. Margaret spotted a large dorsal fin not far from the boat. I started splashing the water with a fin in hopes of bringing the bad boy closer. The shark turned towards us, but did not come close enough for any pictures. We pulled anchor and tried to follow, but lost the shark in the wind chop.

We could only see the front dorsal fin and it was about a foot out of the water. My estimate is six to eight feet in length. May have been a juvenile white; two have been caught and released by fishermen on the Manhattan Beach pier the past couple of months.

Walter and I dropped into the water for a second dive and didn't hear any "shark music" so the landlord must have left the area. Dah dum. Dah dum...
