Patrick Smith IS the expert on Kalifornia shipwrecks--And for you late bloomers he authored a very comprehensive book Titled "Shipwrecks of Southern California" 22 years ago (1989-ISBN0-89732-094-8.) I do not recall he and I discussing the HMS bounty that was used in the 1930s movie "The Bounty" Staring Clark Gable et al. In the halcyon pioneering days of the early 1950s just after the introduction of the bubble machine and before pollution made so popular by the Minamata event SoCal divers use to regularly dive the LA Breakwater on the wreck of the 1930s Bounty. At that time it was showing the effects of years of submersion and water action. By the early 1960s it had disappeared- only a few twisted pieces of metal remained. Patrick was that the remains of the 1930s Bounty? Or another nondescript unknown wreck? Did any one else old enough to recall it or dive on it? SDM
