You likely have an incorrect datum setting in the GPS.

GPS normally uses datum NAD83/WGS84, many maps are datum NAD27.
600' is about the difference between the two datums in California.

It's a setup menu item.

If you have the old 120 from 1995ish, it probably won't support
WAAS which means your accuracy will be about 15M.
