Last month I found one south of the Redondo Pier at Vet's Park at a depth of about 20 feet. I've been seeing one or two there about once a year since I started diving there in '96. Typically they are more common closer to shore where they can hide in the debris and uprooted eel grass that is churned up at the outer edges of the surf zone.
