I just got back friom a 2 night trip. The first night was at san Nicolas--had a blast swimming in the kelp forests with my video camera on the end of a pole. Wednesday morning the conditions were so good that i ran to the Cortes Bank for the second night. You would think that incredible kelp forest would be plush with fish, but it has been mercilessly hammered over the years. I swam on that bank until after dark and didn't see one big fish...It wasn't like that in the 90's.
