I suppose that ancient gear is stuff that is pre Sea Hunt and the scuba craze .

Vintage IMHO is the stuff from the Mike Nelson years, or anything that you have tough time getting parts for. That is where the DACOR joke came from. That brand was thriving when I started out. Now they are dead and the new kids on the block are HOG and Hollis.
