To me, and I'm certainly no expert, and it probably doesn't even matter one way or the other, but I think for all practical purposes they are one in the same.
The "Ancient" comment was meant as a tongue in cheek title name for fun, that's all.

This is the reason I got off all the other boards; because the "vintage" "old gear" "antique" "ancient" gear crowd, or whatever other name you want to use was waaaay to extreme for me and was taking all the fun out of it. Diving needs to be fun for me otherwise I won't do it. In some ways they are worse than the DIR crowd.
