The thing was that I’d been diving for ten years at that point of those Big Sur dives and was still as excited about every dive as when I did my first dives a decade previously. Although it is a vastly different world now, my diving excitement has never diminished; indeed, it is stronger now than before. On every dive there is something new, plus the wide-eyed realization of how much more there still is to see and experience.

That said, although I’ve had the opportunity to dive many areas of the world, none I’ve found (so far) can beat California diving for consistent diversity, unexpected discoveries and the pure joy of having such resources at your doorstep.
