I think that proposal mentioned is fine. It keeps the opener on a Saturday which is optimal. I can't say for sure but I would guess that all species openers are on a Saturday so that the maximum number of fishermen can enjoy the opening. Let's remember that openings of seasons are for sportsmen. The Wednesday closing is also fine. It still gives the recreational guys 3 extra days on the commercial effort and also gives the commercial guys time to clean up before the weekend maximum use time.
